Introduction:
Working with lime, traditional practice and new-build.
High calcium, natural hydraulic and pozzolanic lime mortars.
The advantages of using lime. Good and bad practice.

Practical:
Given the right conditions, materials and fuel; the building
and firing of a small kiln to produce quicklime. Mixing
a traditional stonemasons hot lime mortar. Slaking quicklime
to lime putty. Mixing a lime putty mortar. Mixing natural
hydraulic lime mortars.
Building and pointing stone with lime mortars.
BIO
Patrick McAfee is a stonemason and author of "Irish Stone
Walls" and also "'Stone Buildings." His latest book "Limeworks,"
commissioned by Building Limes Forum Ireland will hopefully
be published this year.
Patrick runs training courses throughout Ireland in dry
stone and the repair of stone bridges using lime mortar.
