2008 STONE BALANCING


Though one of the events of the Lithic Olympics, wasn’t done as a competition but was just as much fun to watch. It was a challenging form of play that went on quietly over at the edge of the museum grounds. Most of those involved were new to it, but before long they became adept.

Fred’s daughter got into it too.

Doug Bell seems pleased at having got that stone to stand still at it’s point.

 

Even old ‘acorn-head had a go.

At night during the Symposium there were convivial campfires where beer was imbibed, stories were told and a form of stone balancing invented by John Shaw-Rimmington was popular.
